Cleanse Me From Secret Faults

Cleanse Me From Secret Faults

Psa 19:12

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Psa 51:2  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Jer 33:8  And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

A defect or imperfection; flaw; failing: a fault in one's character.

I. A fault is something that I have done. It was my fault. A secret fault is something that I have done and I am ashamed of it and keep it hidden. The Lord knows it’s there. He wants to cleanse me and make me whole. A secret fault is a flaw in a person’s character. Usually these flaws or faults do not reveal themselves unless they are touched upon. In other words they are triggered by a word or a deed. They are not an action they are usually a reaction to what someone has said or done. This fault must be brought to the Light. Once the fault is revealed it must be admitted to and confessed so it can be cleansed. Secret faults may often times be something that is so buried beneath the surface that it’s very painful to want to deal with it. It will take Gods love to deal with it. Because of the shame we don’t want to admit it’s there but when the Lord shows us that he does not condemn us for it we are more willing to let Him help us. Jesus does not want to hurt us He wants to help us. Love covers a multitude of sin. Also another reason Christians don’t want to deal with secret faults is because we know that we hurt the Lord when we did it. This requires receiving the Lords forgiveness.  Remember the Lord hurts when we hurt and the Lord hurts when we have hurt someone else. So the wrongful act that we committed is against the Lord. This is one of the most painful parts of the cleansing process. We hurt the Lord. We did not just hurt just anyone we hurt our loving Father. He loves everyone! The Lord does not take sides. This is one of the most important parts of the healing process due to the fact that when there is a fault we are usually not quick to admit it was our fault so we are looking for someone to agree with us that we were justified for what we did. However the Lord does not take sides and commands everyone to repent and forgive.

AntonymWithout blame or blameless, guiltless, innocent
