Thoughts Become Idols

 

Pro 16:3

 

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

 

Thoughts MUST be inspired. God inspires good thoughts and Satan inspires Evil thoughts. The place of conception is our mind or heart.

 

Imagination - Is the ability of forming images and sensations when they are not perceived through sight, hearing, or other senses.

 

Idol worship begins with a thought.

 

Gen 6:5  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

 

Rom 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

 

Just because we have a thought come to us does not mean we have done something wrong. It's when we give place or entrance to evil thoughts.

 

2Co 10:5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

 

Jesus Can Hear Our Thoughts This Morning?

 

Mat 9:4  And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

 

Mat 12:25  And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

 

Mat 15:19  For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

A Need For Pure Thoughts

 

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

 

Jas 2:4  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

 

 

 

Image = Idols are formed and molded by our imaginations.

 

Image of a god.

 

How do you see yourself?

 

Do you set yourself above God's Word?

 

Do you demand reverence?

 

Do you get offended when people do not take notice of you?

 

Do you need to be seen or heard?

 

We are strongly advised to Deny our Self.

 

Mat 16:24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
