True Repentance

Joel 2:12
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

How do I know if God will forgive me?

Joe 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

1.      He is Gracious
2.      He is Merciful
3.      He is Slow To Anger
4.      He is of Great Kindness

I. Now! – Don’t put it off. (Conviction) – Very important for repentance, while there is conviction this is the time to be forgiven. While God is dealing and drawing, this is the time to let Him help you.

II. Turn – Repent! Turn back to God.

III. How To Turn

     1. Rend your hearts – To tear at your heart. – God is not playing games. This is very serious.

2. With Fasting -

         A. Don’t eat. Stop eating. – Get serious with God. In the original it means to put a covering over ones mouth. In other words DON’T EAT.

3. With Weeping -

    A. Bemoan – To wail, to lament.

4. With Mourning -

a.  Be truly sorry.
